Twinkling tree lighting

Trees are natural focal points in your yard. You can dress them up with strands of lights that sparkle and dance. Use cascading or curtain-style lights that drape from the top branches down toward the ground. The gentle motion evokes falling snow, and the glimmer gives the tree a magical presence at night.  We also use ‘soft twinkle’ lights that look like fireflies in the trees and shrubs.  

For evergreen trees, wrap lights tightly around trunks and main limbs, then weave strands outward into branches. Picking a soft warm white color keeps things elegant and timeless. You might mix in a subtle twinkle mode for spots of movement among steady light.  We also mix mini-light strands with larger C7 or C9 bulbs for added texture.

Also, consider spotlighting smaller ornamental trees from below. A low light aimed upward can highlight both seasonal lights and the tree’s natural form. With the right balance your landscaping features stay visible beneath the holiday sparkle.

Path lighting & walkways

A glowing path invites guests to stroll through your yard and sets a warm tone before they reach front steps. Use low-voltage path lights spaced evenly along sidewalks, driveways, or garden edges. Choose fixtures with classic shapes, like lantern or pillar styles, to echo holiday charm.  C9 bulbs on small yard stakes add a magical ‘Winter Wonderland’ look as they guide guests down the walkway, or even outlining planter beds. 

You can drape garland or string lights along handrails and balusters. Gently illuminate steps and risers to prevent trips. For driveways, place stakes or bollards to trace the curve of the pavement. The symmetry and rhythm of lighting lines reinforce your overall design.

Accent features & festive touches

Beyond trees and paths, you can highlight architectural features like columns, roof lines, or pergolas with uplights, C9 roof lining, or even permanent architectural/holiday lighting. Here are other ideas that bring extra joy:

• Lantern clusters: Place decorative lanterns with flickering LEDs on porch steps or along patios.
• Wreath backlighting: Add halo light behind wreaths or garland to make them stand out after sundown.
• Silhouettes & frames: Create simple wooden frames of stars, reindeer, or snowflakes and outline them with LED rope lights.
• Rooflines: Use shingle clips or gutter hooks to run clean lines of C9 lights along roof edges.  Warm-white, multi-colored, or even a candy cane theme can brighten the holidays. 
• Accent bushes & shrubs: Wrap strands or spotlight shrubs to produce soft candles in the landscape at night.
